Specialized neurons sort out overlapping sounds!
research into a cat's midbrain has found that the cells that sense a sounds direction of origin respond the most to the first 50 milliseconds of a sound wave, then they taper off!
The neurons actively ignore the after sounds and help us better detect where a sound is originating from.
